Artist's Comments

the assignment question was : WHAT ARE WE? we had to create a lino stamp depicting what/who you are, and the the self-portrait, is well, self explanatory.

the symbols in the stamp:
-wave and snowflakes: love for snowboarding/surfing
-heart and the stuff inside the waves that looks like the yellowbrick road: my chinese name, or well part of it
star: China
Bee: um.. my short name?

so the portrait is a self-portrait, the background is printed with a lino cut stamp and printing ink.

Breakdown:
Portrait: 1-2 hours
Lino Stamp- Carving: 1 1/2 hours
Printing time: 1 1/2 hours


and sorry about the reflection- its behind a sheet of glass. i'll get around to scanning it, and everything else =/

and i'll submit this for :iconbikerscout:'s self-portrait contest. i doubt i'll win, there are a ton of portraits that are a ton better than this ;) You guys should do it too! there's just over a week left (deadline is October 22nd!)

Btw, this kind of reminds me of a window.. I'm not sure why. And I dunno if your face, or if the stamp is the window. XDD It's just got this cool transparency effect.

...either that, or I'm going blind from excessive attempts at studying.
